Boko Haram Bomb Kills Officer, Three Soldiers In Borno

The incident occurred when a vehicle conveying a patrol team from the 133 Special Forces Battalion triggered the IED, which was buried on the road between Kangarwa and Alagarno village.
“Unfortunately, the IED claimed the life of an officer and three soldiers, while three other members of the patrol team sustained various degrees of injuries. Their Hilux vehicle was also completely damaged,” a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Sani Usman, said.
“The bodies of the late officer and soldiers have since been evacuated while the wounded have also been moved to the unit’s medical facility.”

According to the statement, troops deployed in various parts of the northeast under Operation Lafiya Dole and the Multination Task Force in collaboration with other security agencies have, however, continued to fight terrorism, relentlessly.
“They have been doing so through patrols, clearance operations, patrols and maintaining blocking positions. They have also been contributing their bits in humanitarian activities to enhance civil-military relations with their respective host communities,” the statement added.

NOUN Graduates Now Eligible For NYSC & Law School The Senate has passed an amendment to the law establishing the National Open University, which will make graduates of the institution eligible for mobilisation by the National Youth Service Corps and to attend the Nigerian Law School. The passage followed the adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund on the ‘Bill for An Act to Amend the National Open University Act Cap N6 LFN 1983 (Amendment) Bill 2017’ by the lawmakers at the plenary on Thursday. In the report, the Senate panel stated that the amendment to the National Open University of Nigeria Act was to bring the institution at par with the regular universities in the country.
